- Identify best practices for securing, acquiring and examining digital data including rules of evidence and chain of custody.
- Apply principles and tools of static data acquisition
- Perform volatile data acquisition and analysis
- Retrieve deleted and hidden data from storage media
- Execute cryptographic encoding and decoding for data validation and de-obfuscation
- Locate and analyze evidence stored in network and browsers
- Extract metadata to establish evidence core facts for date, time and location
- Examine laws and regulations dealing with computer crimes
- The course focuses on hands-on labs with open-source forensic software. To complete the course, students must complete both a written exam and a practical exam in which they investigate / report on a computer crime scene.
